Complexity plot of "in the year 2889"

In the year 2889 is a short story by Jules Verne that bring us how is technology grow in a many year, although it just a short story but it feel likes full of context but also I feel like there is no main character but we are just bringing in to a dialogue of some character that explain their daily life and technology involved on it for example this is text from the story The first thing that Mr. Smith does is to connect his phonotelephote, the wires of which communicate with his Paris mansion. The telephote! Here is another of the great triumphs of science in our time. The transmission of speech is an old story; the transmission of images by means of sensitive mirrors connected by wires is a thing but of yesterday”. The point is we can look what is the character talk about on a dialogue or narrative text.
Plot in the story required reader to think how or what the story in this case is a narrator try to tell to the audience. So many book have a plot like a flashback or foreshadowing in a different paragraph but on this book both of it can be joined in one paragraph, flashback to the past and then compare it to the year 2889 or before it.

If we are a reader and seek for a story that can bring us to something new or something that make us want to know more then this is quite perfect because not just a plot but how narrator mention something and describe it but never say the point of what he/she talking about, timeline jump is another factor of how to makes the reader confused which is makes them to learn more of what is it that the narrator bring on the story maybe. Jules Verne is really great at writing this story because I think he is think out of the box but right on target and is amazing he managed it in various mixed plot but enjoyable.
As you read till the end the first or two page have many paragraph mixing flashback and foreshadowing but I think the more I read the story feels like you taken to the present of their timeline which is about a newspaper redaction talking about what news that come from Jupiter and mars and this is the text Mr. Smith next addresses one of the ten reporters in the astronomical department—a department still in the embryonic stage, but which will yet play an important part in journalism. "Well, Cash, what's the news?" "We have phototelegrams from Mercury, Venus, and Mars." "Are those from Mars of any interest?" "Yes, indeed. There is a revolution in the Central Empire." "And what of Jupiter?" asked Mr. Smith. "Nothing as yet. We cannot quite understand their signals. Perhaps ours do not reach them."”
We can see that Jules take it really far then human on that year can reach another planet and make station to life on it, he take us away from our reality if we read it on the year this story was published.
So there is more foreshadowing plot then flashback plot but I feel like 2889 in this short story is the year I read it 2017 because many of Jules Verne prediction become true, such as reporter on TV, telephone, and 1 thing not realized that human make a colony on another planet but the idea was here and some people even have a plan to stay on mars.
The complexity on this short story was amazed me and Jules Verne is a great writer because he can managed mixed plot in a short story, he can exactly know how something happen while he compared it to a real invention.
But for first time I read it, it make me confused because that mixed plot on the first paragraph show how technology changed, plot is not explained by the conflict but explained in the way narrator and character talks.

in case some of you (a visitor on this blog) is too lazy of searching jules verne on google
