Then for me one things intresting is the way how the story goes, or it can be called plot and in this plot,I can see the plot of regressive in this short story,it can be seen from how the character in this story Fritz napoleon from his dialogue how the basic of the invention is found.

  If you read the chronological events or the story from the beginning to the ends the first is how narrator describe the circumtsances of  the current time and compared to the past until ,its lead to the Fritzh napoleon smith the descendants of smith family who had great many invention ,then fritzh napoleon as visiting certain places or industries extraordinary technological development which he has, and da explanation of how the development and origin of the material is to start revealed one by one.
