There are some major differences between modernism and postmodernism.Modernism and postmodernism have differences in approach towards life.Modernism represents various cultural movement in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Modernism include a reform movement in art, literature, music, architecture and applied arts.This movement is also characterized by the involvement of the business of science and technology into every aspect of life.Modernism bring reform in all areas of life, including philosophy, commerce, arts, and literature with the help of technology.Postmodernism means, 'after modernism'. This movement is a reaction to modernism influenced by the disappointment caused by World War II.Postmodernism refers to the state which has no central hierarchy, are ambiguous, and diverse.Developments in society, economy, and culture in the 1960s greatly influenced by postmodernism.
Modernism vs post modernism
Modernism began in 1890 and lasted until about
1945. Postmodernism began after World War II, especially after 1968.Modernism
is based on the use of reason and logical thought to acquire knowledge. On the other hand, postmodernism opposes the use of
logical thinking.Thought during the era of postmodernism is based on the basis
of an unscientific and irrational thought processes as a reaction to
modernism.The nature of hierarchical and organized as well as science and
technology marks the determination of modernism. Instead, postmodernism is
based on anarchism, non-totalitarian, and uncertainty.The approach modernism is
objective, theoretical, and analytical; while postmodernism approach is based
on subjectivity.
Another fundamental
difference between modernism and postmodernism is that the thought of modernism
revolves around an abstract search for truth in life, while postmodernism
thinkers believe that there is no universal truth.
